Potter County | ATV Trails

It has been many moons since we last rode ATV's in Potter County.

We are headed up this weekend and someone told me a while ago that many of the townships have opened their roads to ATV's. We were planning to unload on top of Denton Hill and was curious if we could make to to Cross Forks via ATV?

I have searched on-line and have not found anything or maps besides the State trails.

Last thing I heard ( about 8 years ago ) that road subject was a big contravercy up there . I would contact Potter County Govt . and ask them . The fines could be stiff if you get it wrong .

There is NO legal trail from Denton Hill to Cross Fork. No phone calls necessary.

Not to mention the fact that the PSP and DCNR law enforcement are all over the place in that area...

We unloaded at the DCNR lot on top of Denton Hill and rode legally to cross forks for lunch. Several of the ATV clubs have "legal" outings and use the same route. When we finished we had just over 100 miles round trip. Had a nice lunch at Deb's in Cross Fork. The Cross Fork area was busy with ATV's and side by sides. Most of the township roads are opened up to ATV traffic now.

West Branch Road is the only way you could get there and it's not a legal trail. It's a state highway. The trail clubs have gotten a special exemption from PennDot to hold their dice/poker runs and use West Branch Road but only on those days. That's the only time it's legal. If anyone told you differently, they are wrong.
