Watched a program on the history channel on tonight (wed), it was called apocalypse man. In it a guy explains survival tips in a disaster scenario. I'm new to this stuff, but found some great ideas. He showed stuff that is obvious but most people (myself) would not think off. Like going to the local library for maps or instructional materials, going to a hospital not for meds but because they all have generators, how to scavange for food. He showed how to build a broadcoast transmitter from stuff he got from an old taxi cab building, and lots of safety tips. I found it to be pretty interesting and informational. I guess most of the time I think of survival to be in the outdoors or wilderness, but this covers alot of ideas for in the more populated areas in the wake of a disaster such as katrina or greater. Just thought I would share.
