Another trouble-free awakening

I've been around boats/outboards for over 40 years. I've seen my share of cantankerous outboards over the years.

I bought my boat 5 years ago. It's an '84 with an '84 outboard (which was freshly rebuilt when I bought it) on it. It has been, basically, NOTHING but a pleasure to own and operate since I brought it home.

Today me & the boy un-tarped it, took the cover off (it spends the winter outside under a tarp) and hooked it to the hose. One 15 seconds of cranking got the fuel into the engine. Left off the key, pushed it in to choke and the old V-4 was running before I was even ready. A couple quick bumps of the key (choke) when it began to sputter and it growled right down into a nice idle !!

Boy spent better than an hour up in the boat with a rag and a bottle of cleaner putting a bit of shine on an old turd. Now for some time and weather and we're ready to go fishin' !!

A machine that works as it should, and when you want it to, is a joy to behold. Long may it wave.

Good night Chesty, wherever you are......
