Boat Title Help

Looking at getting a boat from a guy for free. Its a 16' fiberglass. It has no title or registration. Would I be able to take this boat and get a title for it? Do I need anything to be able to do that?

Re: Boat Title Help

if it has a hull number all you should need is a bill of sale. the trailer will need a title to be legal though.

take a kid hunting and fishing it will keep them out of trouble

Re: Boat Title Help

What year is it? Some boats dont have titles and dont need them due to age however once you title one it must remain titled.

What I say might not be the popular trend but at least Im not afraid to speak my mind!

You are going to bring yourself a lot of aggravation. I'd spend a little and save the headache.

Re: Boat Title Help

You won't have problems if he's the last one to have it registered.. You can also go through an abandoned boat process and take ownership after a grace period, but I don't know much about how that works.. I'd call PFBC office.. They'll give you your options
