Boat title/registration question

Have an old jon boat that I have a current registration for. If I were to sell it do I need a title or is the registration considered the title? I've had the boat since 1995 (before they changed over to titles).
Thanks!

Re: Boat title/registration question

You do not need a title, it the new owner wants it titled they can do so after the sale.

Thanks John! So then I would just give the new owner a bill of sale and give them the registration card for it I assume?

Re: Boat title/registration question

Transfer the registration to the new owner. Those numbers on the side have your name attached.

Re: Boat title/registration question

you'll still need to go to a notary and transfer the registration. Be sure to take the registration card along

I gotta go agitate the techies!

Re: Boat title/registration question

Actually if only the boat you only need to sign it and hand it over to the buyer. The buyer can go alone to register the boat. Actually he can fill out the paperwork and mail it in.

Above applies if the boat is only registered. If it is titled you must go in together or at the least sign it in front of a notary and have them stamp it and then have the buyer fill in his info and take it in
