Does anyone know why it takes so long to get your new #s when you buy a new boat.Picked up the new boat on 4-27...it will be 7 weeks on fri. the 8th..seems like they are really dragin there feet.if i knew why it toke so long i might understand. maybe the people doing it only work part time out of there house n if it doesnt get done today, theres always tomorrow... im not real happy about it but what are you gona do .. since its a state agency i guess theres nothin i can do but wait ... huh....

Do you have a temporary sticker on the boat now? When I bough mine last year (July) my temporary sticker was good until the end of Sept. The dealer told me why it takes so long to get the numbers, but I cant remember why.

You should have a round green temp sticker with the date written on it. You can run with that until the numbers come, I am pretty sure. If your dealer did not give you the green tag, a full service notary can.

Re: New Boat Registration #s

When I bought my boat last year there was an issue with the maryland title.. It was all paid off, but he needed to actually have proof that the loan was paid off, since a maryland title didn't prove that.. It took a month to hear that, but once I faxed in documentation from the previous owner that there wasn't a lein on the boat it was a week at the most until I had my stickers.. That was in February,so I would imagine June has quite a few more boat sales...

Thats what I love about Jerseys DMV....walk in with the title and a bill of sale and you walk out with your new numbers, the sticker good for a year and the owners card and title.

You can do renewals over the counter too.

I changed registration on our 25' sportcraft from VA to PA last year. Had my new stickers in a week.

Re: New Boat Registration #s

If I remember right, I think my numbers came like a day or two before my temporary sticker ran out.
