Terrova/Circuit Breaker Question

Ok, you gentlemen that are running 80lb Minn Kota Terrova's, what amp breakers are you using. I mounted mine on a quick release bracket the other day. I read on several forums that guys were having issues with their breakers tripping when they run their motors on high for a couple minutes. I read that the Terrova 80lb has a 56amp draw. I know most breakers are 50amp, that is what my current one is.
I just ordered a 60amp Minn Kota breaker. Planning on nipping any problems in the butt before they happen. I also see that Minn Kota recommends 6ga wire from the battery to the receptacle. I just checked my wires and luckily they are 6ga, I know alot of others that have 8ga.

Re: Terrova/Circuit Breaker Question

Yep you need the 60 amp, and they ain't cheap. BPS had them on sale a while back, 30 couple bucks. I could not find one other then the MK. My Cresty had 6ga already run, and no problems. I could only get GP24's to fit in the Bat compartment though, and you can chew them up pretty quick running on high.

Re: Terrova/Circuit Breaker Question

Been running a 24 volt 80 pound terrova for three years of heavy use with no circuit breaker at all. Running on high for long stretches of water, never had an issue.
