Re: Changing a long shaft to short shaft

I looked into changing my Johnson 6 LS to a SS, but the cost is a bit steep. You need to get the shorter shift rods, water pump tube, and driveshaft. If you are very mechanically inclined and have the time and money it can be done.

I gotta go agitate the techies!

Drive shafts ain't cheap. If you could find one with a bad power head for cheap be the best way.

Re: Changing a long shaft to short shaft

You can buy an adapter that mounts on your transom that enables you to use a long shaft motor on a standard transom.

Cheaper than a conversion.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

Re: Changing a long shaft to short shaft

I concur with Dogface. Go with a plate with a 5 inch lift. I've got one I can sell you that I had custom made to my specs out of aluminum to convert my transom from a 15 inch to 20 inch in order to run a jet motor.

Happiness is a fine Mauser build.
