Kayak camp kinzua

Anyone have info on kayak camping the Kinzua reservoir? I would like to do an overnight or weekend kayak and camp trip. I was wondering about the availability of camp sites and if any permits were needed.

Thanks

You can paddle into the Morrison Run campground. It is accessible only by boat or by hiking in several miles on the Morrison Trail. No electricity or anything, first come, first served.
Or if you can get a reservation at the Red Bridge campground (Corps of Engineers), it has electric, water and bath houses. Also has primitive campsites. All of those spots are not far from the water, but there are several right on the lake. But they are hard to get right on the lake, if you don't already have them reserved. If you stay at the Red Bridge campground, be sure to eat at Bob's Trading Post and get an ice cream cone there also. They have fabulous Chicago DeepDish Pizza. Burgers not bad either.

Thanks for the info. Any clue if it’s legal to stealth camp somewhere, not at a designated camp site? Just paddle up to a spot on the shore and set up camp. More like a bushcraft camp.

You can camp anywhere in the ANF. There are campgrounds on the eastern side of the reservoir north of Sugar Bay also. Accessible by boat and lightly used. Primitive sites, maybe with just a clearing and fire ring. Can't remember the names right off my head but you should be able to find them on a map. If you're going to fishes well, the better walleye fishing is in the northern end of the lake.
