Boat insurance

A recent post on registering a boat triggered a DUMB me experience recently. Over the years I've owned a lot of boats, still have 5...addict I guess.

I sold my bass boat to a guy in Florida about 12 years ago. the boat had some incurance and liability under my auto policy. Like an idiot I never checked nor took it off the coverage insurance policy (keeping the other 5 one the policy).

I was checking changing insurance on my mustang, and saw the 12 year sold boat....still on the policy. checked and got affidavits of sale and statement of no use by me. Insurance company refunded the 12 years overpay...a significant $$$$.

So if you sell a boat, remember to cancel any riders you may have on your auto insurance...IMMEDIATELY.

Just plain stupid....but now I have the $$$ for a new side scan!

Re: Boat insurance

That's great they refunded the money.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.
