My New Yak

I've been fishing out of a cheap kayak for 5 or 6 years now. Fell in love with kayak fishing and feel weird if I'm not in a kayak when fishing. So I decided to save enough to get a nice yak and make it that much more enjoyable. Went with the Feelfree Lure 11.5. I took it out real quick yesterday but didn't have time to fish. It's super stable. I had no trouble standing up at all. Even paddled while standing and paddled with the seat all the way up. Today I'm hoping to get out to one of the local lakes and see if I can't get some fish slime on it.

Re: My New Yak

They are nice Yaks for sure. I gave them a serious look. Enjoy your new Lure. The wheel in the keel is a great feature.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

BTW I love that paint job. There is something attractive about it.

Good luck!

Re: My New Yak

That's an awesome yak!

This is my first year kayak fishing and I love it! I'm going to continue adding different things to my cheapy Future Beach before I upgrade and yours looks like the way to go.

The horizon is your starting point.

Re: My New Yak

That's exactly what I did. Started buying and adding stuff to my cheapy before I upgraded. Got to take it out last night for 4 or 5 hours. I went to Pymatuning for the first time. Only managed to catch 2 bass and a nasty ol bowfin. As for the kayak itself, I'm very pleased with the comfort and stability. I was standing and casting very easily and had no trouble setting the hook without falling in the drink. It is certainly a fair bit slower than my old kayak but for my style of fishing I don't need much speed. Another thing I love about it is the removable "sonar pod" that I have my fish finder mounted to. It keeps everything (battery, cables, transducer and fish finder itself) all on one box that is easily removed for transport. Still gotta figure out how to get everything situated to be more convenient but I'm more than happy with the kayak itself.
