Re: evinrude johnon xd30 2 cycle outboard oil

how old is the engine? It is most likely made for the 50/1 ratio.
The mix was 24/1 before the early 70's then went to 50/1 that equates to 1 pint to 6 gal of gas.
Once the VRO engines came out they mixed their own ratio that ranged from 50/1 at WOT to around 100/1 at idle. Just pour it into a tank and the fuel pump did the rest.

With 2 stroke outboards I would rather have the mix heavier than lighter.
New plugs are cheap.......pistons and engine rebuilds not so much.
Good Luck

motor is 20 yrs old....so 2.5 ounces for every gallon should do it...i agree with having the mix a bit heavier...

Re: evinrude johnon xd30 2 cycle outboard oil

Evinrude / Johnson was selling engines in about 1985 that were supposed to use 100 to 1. I had one.

About a year after I bought it I received a letter from Johnson changing their recommendation to 50 to 1. Since that time I have never seen a different recommendation.
