What kinda motor do you have?

I would run the electronics, lights, bilge, etc off your starting/cranking battery...run the trolling motor off its own battery!

Re: Experienced boaters, help

You should use a deep cycle battery for the trolling motor. I usually use a size 27 or 29 deep cycle battery. Cosco has Interstate 27's for about $80 which is a good price for a good battery. Walmart also has good prices for deep cycle batteries.

Get on the Interstate web site. They have a lot of info on marine batteries.

What make, model and size trolling motor do you have? Some have features that make the use of a smaller battery practical.
