Son inherited a beautiful Model 42 from his Uncle. It was manufactured in 1954 and Uncle swears the case came with the gun as purchased. The case is canvas and leather with wooden cleaning rod. You must break down the gun to carry it but everything fits. Can anyone can confirm the case came with the shotgun? I have feelers out with a few collectors but no reply.
Thanks guys. Upon closer inspection there are no Winchester markings however on the barrel section leather buckle there is a 120 over 28. Guessing 12 G 28" barrel? It is crafted quite well and in excellent shape. The wooden rod is three piece and has two brushes and a bore mop. Need to find an appraiser for the whole package.
Last couple 42's I saw brought $2,300 with no case.
