Fenced areas near Brady Lake

Anyone know what the fenced areas are near Brady Lake? The fence is about 6 feet high and made of 4" x4" wire. There is a locked swinging gate on it and a spring hinged gate right next to it. There were some footprints and dog prints inside the fenced area. Looks like we saw two separate areas. How big are they? Are the for keeping whitetails or feral hogs in/out of something?

Is this open for hunting? Saw some rabbit sign inside and might take the beagle up there later in the week when the temp rises a bit.

Sounds like a Mt.Lion cage to me, or they could be doing a forest regeneration study and that is one of the control areas.

I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

What fenced in area are you talking about? There is one just as you come into the game land from 940 that runs parallel to the highway towards Pocono estates. That has 3 separate gates with the dog door style hatches.
You can hunt in this area but it is very thick both inside and outside of the fence. There is a nice wide pipe line to walk on. After you pass through the 3rd it goes down to a powerline and bends off to the left. Nice area for turkey and there are some deer. If your looking for bear find the swamp areas.

There is a new fenced in are that is less then a year old. They did a little timbering when they finished the dam and for some reason fenced it off. They left many stumps and cut-offs. This is along the road going up to the lake. There are a couple dog doors there also. I have not been inside this new area, but did walk along the north side of the fence looking for bear signs.
Unless its marked keep out you can go in.
From what I saw from the outside, it looked like a dog could get scratched up pretty good.
Good Luck

My ability to remember lyrics from songs of the 60's far exceed my ability to remember why I walked into the kitchen

Re: Fenced areas near Brady Lake

Thanks for the info. It is the one right on the road on the right going up to the lake.

We did see another over near Hypsy road and that had a sign on it and when we called it was placed by the City of Bethlehem to reforest some clearing they had done in their watershed. Women on the phone was very helpful and said that she thought the one near Brady was by the company that worked on the dam and was probably for the same reason.

The Delaware State Forest if full of 'deer exclusion' fences. They have little yellow signs from the DCNR saying you can hunt them. The older ones are real thick. the latest one near my cabin is now a year old and the high winds during rifle season brought down a tree crushing part of it...

4th Generation @ Kamp.

3D - There are STILL a few deer left! You need to pry them out of the developments!
