Home Inspector

I finally bought a camp. Above Marienville in Forest County. Can anyone recommend a home inspector in the area? This was a permanent residence before my (pending) purchase, and I'd like to have it inspected and tested for radon. I know it's a camp, but it wasn't cheap. Want to make sure I know what I've gotten myself into.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions. If you want to PM me contact info, have at it.

PM sent with contact info

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.

Re: Home Inspector

A good home inspection is a MUST DO. We lost the $500.00 HAND MONEY BUT SAVED THE $24,000.00 it would have cost to remove the asbestos and replace the roof and joists that held it up.

Re: Home Inspector

forestco,

Is the sale contingent on what the inspector finds or are you contractually obligated regardless of the findings? Just curious. Thanks

Re: Home Inspector

Contingent which I think is typical, but I'm a lawyer so everything is contingent. As far as I know generally the outcome of the inspection might adjust the final price if there is something crazy. I took a look at the place before I signed and didn't see anything. In the worst case scenario, I'm out hand money.

Re: Home Inspector

Guys,

Thank you for the home inspector leads. The guy I went with came recommended from Buckethead and TCaddis, and he did a fantastic job.

Along those lines, I need a furnace guy. The oil furnace in this place is very old. I'll probably buy a new furnace and convert to propane shortly, but I want to have the old furnace in there looked at/evaluated. . .basically to see what I need to do now (likely have it cleaned) and how long I can make it before I replace it.

So with that, anyone have any recommendations? The property is north of Marienville as previously mentioned.

Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

Re: Home Inspector

Guess there are no furnace guys up there. I guess I'll have to bribe my stepfather or father-in-law to handle this job.

Re: Home Inspector

Colburn Heating out of Frewsburg, NY is one of the few who do a great job on oil furnaces....they may service your area...call George Colburn and ask him:

716-569-3695

A&B Heating in Warren, PA is another source. They can be expensive...814-723-5670

You can also try Ted Whitney at 814-223-4009 http://tedwhitney.com/
