Would you sell?

There has been a popular thread on whether people selling their land/cabin are being reasonable in establishing their asking price.
An offshoot of that has been a discussion on increased value of purchased land.
For me it doesn't matter what the increased market value is because I have no intent of selling. I am aware of the increased value due to the impact it has on estate planning. With no intent to monetize my land, it's value and increase in value, is not part of my financial planning.
Do you have plans to ever sell your land/cabin?

I miss my hunting partner

Depends on how my heirs treat me in my old age.

Re: Would you sell?

I would sell any of the 4 parcels I own for between $3,000 - $3,500/acre with the gas rights. 3 have nice cabins, 1 is vacant land.

For me, the only thing more exciting than buying land/cabins is selling them to buy more land/cabins.

Re: Would you sell?

My grandfather used to say " everything has a price but the wife and kids, but, be careful what you bid for them" .

I'm in the process of selling a piece land that I don't want to sell. They will have to pay enough to make me forget about it, while I'm enjoying a tract that's twice as big.

Re: Would you sell?

Home,
Have no intention of ever selling, a few years back I had a well off NY Lawyer make me a real nice offer on
my log cabin, he has been Turkey hunting here for 40 years. I guided him to another log cabin that was for sale on Painter's Run Road, less than a 1/2 mile away, he can still walk to Turkey hunt his spot, from his log cabin.
Pine Creek/Dave

Had a chance to sell a while back, doubt I will ever leave the back woods now, might add on in the near future however.

lol,...yeah.

Even as much work as I've done, it's always exciting for me to get something else.

Re: Would you sell?

I have used 10-31 exchanges for all of my land purchases. first I sold twenty acres exchanged it for 60 acres, sold half of the 60 acre tract and bought a 86 acre farm. Everything has a price

Re: Would you sell?

We just got ours in late 2012....but we would need to have a pretty good opportunity in front of us in order to sell what we have - meaning we would need to sell the current parcel to buy a better one.

Re: Would you sell?

A fact about the 10-31 Like Kind Exchange that my accountant told me.

Say you make $400,000 profit selling property. You can turn around, buy a residence, live there 2 years and sell it and as long as your gain is below $500,000 you owe no taxes.
