Cabin Theft

Well in 30 years our cabin has been broken into twice. Once about 20 years ago and now a couple of days ago. We don't know what was stolen but the blankety blanks parked at the bottom of the driveway and walked up and broke into the sheds and the cabin. My grandfather is going up to see what they stole. We have a gate at the bottom and the guy that plows our driveway that has a key discovered it today. My grandparents were just up over the weekend. This was in Cherry Springs. Some people.

Re: Cabin Theft

took a lot of guts to park at the bottom and walk up and down the driveway just hoping someone saw a vehicle sitting there. We don't know exactly what day it was broken into. Sometime from last week and today.

Re: Cabin Theft

Sorry to hear about your camp, we are lucky to have two permanent residents right by our camp in potter that keep a eye on things. That doesn't mean there isn't people lurking around, we have been lucky enough to never have any real problems.

Re: Cabin Theft

Cameras are a great idea .....and trust me you'd be surprised who lurks around. A few well placed cameras work.

Re: Cabin Theft

I had my shed broke into last spring as we were preparing to build a new camp, it was really like you were violated for sure. I had put up trail cams but didn't leaave them after we left to come home after deer, but they will be back up in a couple of weeks. I hope you guys can get over it and move on sorry about it and best of luck!

live laugh love and hunt hard!

Re: Cabin Theft

Sad that nothing is safe..

My buddies camp...the camp I use...is right off a main road...3mi off I-80...

I cannot believe it doesn't get hit...knock on wood...it has gotten hit once...i think a kid (kids). Took some booze and I think a 22...they used to leave a 22 hidden up there for whatever reason..actually recovered the gun down the the creek...didn't damage anything...can't remember if the door was broken or anything...

Maybe being off a main road deters thieves? More traffic to catch you than a camp way off the beaten path....

The wood shed is even open....I ALWAYS take my own maul because they leave theirs in the woodshed..I know one day it won't be there when I go up!

My other Buddy had a camp with a half mile driveway off a seldom used dirt road...it got knocked off regularly... couldn't even leave firewood by the bonfire...

As strange as this may sound. I'm a camp lurker on occasion. I love checking out old camps and looking in the windows. It intrigues me to see how other camps are set up and to see all the old photos, mounts, and gear hanging on the walls. I'm sure my face has popped up on a few trail cams over the years. Lol
