camp cost question

Quick question for those that belong to a hunting camp. What is your yeaarly fee and success rate? I have managed only two bucks in ten years and hunt for four days.

Re: camp cost question

Our average has been 3 bucks and a load of doe over the past 10 years. This year we killed 4 buck, a couple doe but also had 3 misses and 1 wounded during archery on bucks. This is between 6 guys. so I guess on buck we are 50% or so. This is 3B Bradford cty, Private & Public. Cost for me is the mortgage, as I own the camp, but my buddies contribute alot to everything that goes into the camp money wise.

Camp life,it don't get much better!

Re: camp cost question

We got shut out for the past two years, seldom get doe tags for camp. When we do get buck it is usually only one per season out of 10 guys. Most of the guys will get a deer elsewhere later in the season. Dues and grubstake run 125.00. Fortunately, for us hunting camp is mostly about the camaraderie.

Re: camp cost question

This is a great question and look forward to seeing more answers.... I'm the camp owner and here is the break down for Deer Season.

1. Opening Week - $150.00 - Saturday after Thanksgiving to the fist Wednesday.

2. Last Weekend - Wednesday to Sunday - $100.00

Our camp has all the modern amenities with the comforts of a great camp. ALL of our meals are fit for Kings.... there is no Bennie Wennie's being served. No one leaves the table hungy or has ever complained about the food.

Our Success rate so far this year out of our camp is 4 buck and 2 doe... we hunt doe hard on the last weekend, we do pretty good.

So to add a question to this forum..... Are these prices unreasonable?

Any money after the food cost goes back into the camp for up keep and maintenance. For example: A new meat pole for the guys... since one of them bent the heck out of it with a 4wheeler last year....

Re: camp cost question

Tooth, You are right in line with us. We charge $175 for fri to wed. Meals are great, place is big, 2 crappers, and plenty land to hunt. We went 2 bucks for 16 guys this year. 4 hunters hardly hunted. We usually have 12 in camp and get 1-3 buck.

Re: camp cost question

RonM is correct..... Beanie Weinies = Hot Dogs cut up in Baked Beans.

It's good for entertainment around the camp fire.
