well im back home after a week at camp, I always hate leaving camp, wish I could stay there all the time! Had a good week, I got a nice doe Monday afternoon, with my new to me marlin 30/30 with my own reloads which was awesome! she came right over a hill and gave me a great quartering to shot, put it right tight to the shoulder and squeezed it off, she jumped like 10 feet in the air ran about 20 yards and tipped over! I was surprised that the 170s didn't punch a huge hole but there was blood everywhere! im very pleased with this load out of my 30/30. Tuesday came and I didn't see anything creatures. Wednesday my uncle got a small doe before he and my cousin had to leave for home, after they left I found an awesome spot where two valleys come together and i could cover both of them from atop another hill, saw some deer but couldn't see if they were bucks or not because they were heading for the next county! Thursday saw some deer right when i topped the hill but didn't want to shoot right at first light! Friday didn't see nothing till I went out in the rain!!! saw a deer take off like a shot down the mountain, couldn't tell what it was again and just watched it run off. Saturday didn't see nothing till round 10 and i hear this running, so i figured some deer where coming in so i get up to where i can see over the ridge im sitting off of, and don't see nothing but i can still hear it so im like what? when i see two red heads coming out of behind a log and see ones a jake but they're hauling butt so i couldn't see what the other one is. wish that would've happened on sat when i was after the turkeys on the last day! here's some pictures from camp didn't take too many this year.
some deer loins for diner!
some scenery shots from this morning
couldn't resist taking a picture of my browning 30-06
Thanks for sharing even though you made me hungry by looking at the deer then your dinner plates.I also someday would love to own a camp for my family and I to go to.
Congrats on a great season at camp.
