Pocono's Hunting

Any observations or opinions as to what to expect hunting on public land in the Pocono's? Specifically around routes 115 & 903.

I've found some decent deals in developments that I think the whole family could enjoy, plus its close enough I'll actually get to use the place. I imagine firearms deer is crazey, what about bow, muzzle loader, turkey, bear? I've hunted upland game all over the area and it didn't seem too bad. Any place would have to border game land for me to consider it.

Just looking for general observations and experiences. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Pocono's Hunting

Interested in answers to this thread, as I have property in Holiday Pocono along SGL 129 and Hickory Run State Park and hope to hunt PA for small game later on this winter, and possibly turkey/small game / deer in 2014.

Re: Pocono's Hunting

good bear population.
deer - mid 90's was decent, lots of guys out moving deer. Last I hunted that area was 7 yrs ago. Very few hunters and few deer. Tough hunting lots of laurel and swamp.
Good luck!

Your spot I NEVER go back
My spot I expect the same

Re: Pocono's Hunting

Hunt is good for squirrel, turkey, bear and deer if you put in the time. The game lands on 903 get hammered fairly hard. On 115 there is a tract of the Delaware SF below the racetrack that has gated roads and go on for miles.
Hunting would be a lot better if there was more hunters.
There is also a section of the Weiser SF along 903 out by the turnpike. Next fall it will be even easier to get up here since the new slip ramp will be finished off the turnpike.

If you have any questions shoot me a PM and I will help out if I can.
Good Luck
