Save me a seat at the Wharton. I'll be up at the Pig Sty Rod and Gun Club early Friday morning with the bear hunting crew. Can't wait!

Re: Bear Season in Potter

I'm in Cross Fork, Potter County now - and loving it. I keep thinking maybe my wife is wrong about me waiting until I;m 64 or 65 to retire. I'm thinking much sooner would be a much netter idea. Then my four and five day trips would be month long getaways!!!

I got some trees cur down, split and stacked - which was the last work detail I was going to do - with help - on the Sunday of bear season. Now that Sunday will be a day of "Cocktail Time" with tons of shrimp, cheese, crackers and tons of other fancy snacks like grilled deer tenders!

I was a little disappointed that all we got was a dusting of snow here. I was looking forward to looking out the window with my good friend, Jim Beam, at the snow...but "Jim" and I are happy right now looking out at the grass!

COME ON BEAR SEASON! I need more!!!

Karl Power,
Hope you get to retire to Potter, I am living the dream,
no dpoubt about it, my place is on the Potter/Tioga line and
Painter Run Road runs from our back yard to the Pa Grand Canyon. I have not taken a Bear in years but we got plenty of them, no doubt about that. I like the Devils Cut myself,
the 17 year old Grouse is great stuff also, but my favorite is the JD single BBl.

Re: Bear Season in Potter

I will be up there leaving 2C next Friday. Will be hunting below cherry springs. Staying at the black squirrel camp at the base of the Shingle bolt Mountain. We may hit up a few bars on Saturday night, but if we get a bear, you all will know it as we will be partying hard!

I love it up there and some of my ashes will be spread in those mountains and on the first fork. I doubt I will get to retire up there, but guarantee a lot of my time when I am older will be spent, smoking cigars on the first fork with a fly rod.

We should try and do a pot luck dinner some time in Conrad, and get a few camps together. Could really help build a bond, so if any of us need help getting a bear out we can get help from one another. We have 4 guys going up to camp, and may need to bribe some guys with some beverages, and good food if we get a whopper.

Good luck everyone, and hoping to finally get one from our camp.

Re: Bear Season in Potter

We will probably head out to the Tannery on Saturday night Mike. Always love seeing Brenda, Luke and that one DJ fella that does that twitchy arm thing all night long. I always wonder why he doesn't use the good arm to drink beer. Bottle is always going all over the place, it's a wonder how he doesn't knock out any teeth. I'm always disappointed when he isn't DJing the Saturday night dance party. Lol.
