Lock your doors

Don't just shut your car doors make sure they are locked.
Came out of camp and noticed my car door was opened. As I got to the side of the car I was amased to see my back seat in the grass.
A bear got into my car and tour out both back seats. Tour up the leather, and ate my hat. There were scratch marks on the door handle and by luck popped open the door.
Expensive lesson.

Re: Lock your doors

Darn bears, is there really that little food in the woods that he needs to eat your hat?

Was it one of those big fruit hats like the lady on the banana sticker has?

Re: Lock your doors

I may have the solution to your problem. We've had major problem with bears the past few years. This spring we had 6 different bears outside our porch in one day.

And we have a particular bear that is a major headache. She has mange really bad, including her head. She has lost all sense and sensibility, and she tried her best to get in our front door. We had a really bad night when she tried to get in. I fired a weapon 3 times (not at her) to dissuade her. and every time she was back within half an hour. I ended up dragging the picnic table on the porch to barricade the front door. Didn't sleep much that night.

The solution? Ammonia. I bought a gallon of ammonia and filled a spray bottle. Now I spray around the truck (ALWAYS LOCKED) and I spray around the porch, around the truck, and the door mat at the front door. Haven't had a problem for 6 months. May work for you.

Re: Lock your doors

Can't vouch for ammonia and bears, but it does seem to work for coons around garbage bins.
