How does the TV boost antennaes work?

Looking to install a power boosting or directional antennae at camp to try and pick up FOX and CBS so we can watch the football games at camp. Anybody try one of these or have a better way?

Re: How does the TV boost antennaes work?

i bought one about 6 years ago at Radio Shack for about 90 bucks. i think it was called the omni dish. we went from picking up nothing to getting about 13 channels we can watch. nice thing about Radio Shack they have a 30 return policy so if it didn't work I was going to take it back.

amplified antennas have been around for many moons.... it's all about location and heights...

My brother bought one off of amazon for us. Looks cheap and had our reservations, but we have the clearest picture in 20 years. I think we get 3-4 channels.

Re: How does the TV boost antennaes work?

Our TV worked before the switch with the antenna. Then the switch to digital came and we cant get anything. Tried a new antenna, booster, new cable and nothing worked. Changed heights and directions but we couldnt get it. Tried getting Dish and they couldnt get signal. Just wanted it for weather and to watch a football game on sundays.

Goodluck.

About the boosters, they supposed to also use the electrical system in your house to boost your signal.I,m at a good height and never seen a difference with the ones on our rabbit ears.

Re: How does the TV boost antennaes work?

This is what you must understand... They moved regular TV off VHF to all UHF.. UHF does not travel as far as VHF.. They also made it wideband to accomandate HD .. also makes it travel less distance.... Dense woods, leaves, etc also cut signals down... when the leaves fall you may see better reception in some locations.... Truth of it all is it is all about location and distance from the transmitting antenna of the tv station..

Leaves on trees takes away NBC (channel 8) for me.

If only networks would boost signal it would make a lot of people happy.

I got less channels when they went digital than with analog.
