White Cedar on Camp

Does anyone have white cedar shakes or siding on their camp, and did you stain or treat the siding after installation?

Will I increase the useful life of the white cedar with a stain or sealer?

Re: White Cedar on Camp

The logs of my camp are northern white cedar. From what I understand you do not have to seal them. They will however weather to a silver/gray color. We liked the look of a more traditional color and wished to maintain that look so we sealed the outside with Sikkens. 2 coats hand brushed so it gets into all the cracks, etc.
