buying a new camp

My father and I are buying a piece of ground in Marienville, that currently has a camp on the property. The condition of the camp is terrible, so we are going to demo the camp with exception of the foundation ( in great shape). I am wondering if anyone knows a amish builder or builder in the Marienville area that does framing work? We are going to do a 24X 24 camp with a barn style or 10/12 pitch roof. Any help or phone #s would e great. Thanks!!!!

Re: buying a new camp

a 10/12 pitch is extremely steep...
Are you wanting to put a loft in or something? for that area Id imagine the snow load code cant be more than 5/12 or 6/12..

Do yourself a favor and frame the exterior with 2x6 and insulate it good. Then just have a local truss company or lowes or home depot build you your trusses..
a 24' x 24' camp shouldn't take more than 3-4 days to completely frame out with a decent crew..
I just framed out, sheathed, and roofed a 21 x 25 garage in 5 days with 2 guys.. we did a 4/12 pitch and it ended up being 6 square of shingle.

this is the before...a tree fell on the existing garage..

and this is when it was close to done

Re: buying a new camp

We build our own place took us 1 whole week to frame, roof and side. But my son and I had the right help not every body has that. I am just south of Marienville and a friend of mine had his place built (32x24) by the amish I will email him and try to get the info to pass on. Below is mine with a 12x12 pitch roof not a enormous loft but still plenty of space for overflow. Good luck! I have been hunting/visiting that area for a long long time always loved it there and still do!
