Quick trip to Perry County camp

We were at my camp in Perry County last weekend. I left a potato in a bag laying on the gun rack and forgot to bring it home. We were not planning on going up again until the 2nd weekend in August. Rotten potato smell is terrible and 4 weeks in a hot cabin would have been bad. I went up yesterday for the potato and did a little work. Its only 1 hour and 15 minutes drive. I was there about 5 hours and saw a few interesting sights. I was on the back porch and a hummingbird came in under the porch and hovered about 5 feet away from me for a little bit and then went over and sat on the wash line. On the way to the hardware store in Ickesburg I saw a hawk flying down the middle of the road holding on to a snake that was about 3 feet long. It wasn't up very high and was having some problems flying with it. Back at the cabin I was sitting on the front porch about 11:00 and saw a doe and 2 fawns across the road. The first deer that I have ever seen while sitting on the porch. Short trip but had a good time!

Re: Quick trip to Perry County camp

Those off schedule quick trips are always the best, but it made me question your statement about getting some work done......

YH.... Thanks for sharing; that was a great read. Few things are better than enjoying Pennsylvania's wildlife in their natural setting.
