building a new dry camp info needed

Hi eveyone I found this site looking for info on camps and it has been a great help with alot of info.

I found a piece of property to build my camp on I also found on here a link to Shawnee Structures and plan on getting one of there camping cabins and finishing off the inside myself in the spring.

I found the UCC RECREATIONAL CABIN AFFIDAVIT and was wondering if I'm going to run into any major problems getting any permits to put a dry camp on the property. Btw it's only 1/2 ac. with an old 1 room school house on it that is in so bad of shape it needs torn down. But I do plan on reusing as much wood as i can to finish off the inside.

Thanks
Scott

Your first and biggest hurdle will be with sewage disposal. Check out the website: www.jonestownship.com/permits/obtaining_onlot_sewage.htm

If there is already a structure there with some type of sewage system, even a privy, it may not be too much of an issue. I would advise you to contact the Sewage Enforcement Officer serving the municipality your camp is located in for information.

The recreational cabin exclusion is only applicable to building code regulations, not the sewage reg's.

The old school had a privy but its falling down. I guess the first thing I could do before I demo the old school is to fix up the old privy and make it useable. Then demo the school and put in the cabin.

Yea, don't demo the either the school building or the privy until you talk to local officials. You will likely be required to obtain a sewage "repair" permit to replace the privy.

You may want to talk to the local Fire co. They may want to burn it for training/practice.

I wouldn't burn it down, I would move in, it's in about the same shape as our camp. LOL
