Camp Traditions

What camp traditions do you guys have? During bear season at our camp one of the guys that has never shot a bear has to wear the lucky bear bonnet the night before which is an old football helmet with no face mask.

Re: Camp Traditions

our most unique tradition for bear camp would have to be the collection of "tree mushrooms" atop the the mantle that have dried out & every bear season everyone that is there etches there name into a new one & we date it on the back. we have been doin this for quite some time..it all started from an ol time member who used to scribe really cool artwork onto those things..

the tradition for the ride up to camp is the ceremonial stop at the alvin bush dam, to take in the beauty of the surrounding mountains..and take a leak after driving 3/4 of the way to cross fork from pittsburgh!

Vegetarians are cool. All I eat are vegetarians - except for the occasional mountain lion steak.

Re: Camp Traditions

Muzzleloader doe camp in October we always get a "Giancarlo Special" pizza at Bettina's in Marienville on Thursday evening after the hunt or opening up camp if we don't get there in time to hunt.

You really under estimated the ramifications of the boondoggle you have just perpetrated!

Re: Camp Traditions

The whole TR crew has a huge meal on Sunday before the start of the 2nd week of deer season. Always consists of venison and lots of fixins and of course a variety of beverages. We had two legs of lamb last year and also this past trout season. Gotta start gettin the menu in order, it will be here soon!

Re: Camp Traditions

We had a tradtion when we were younger that, in recent/wiser years, has since has gone un-enforced. Anytime we took someone new to camp, they had to go in for a dunk in Bluejay Creek...no matter what time of year it was. The caveat that has made it less enforceable is that EVERYONE in attendance must join the greenhorn! When we started breaking holes in the ice and seeing the creek freezing from the bottom-up, we let off.

I have CDO, its like OCD but the letters are in alphabetical order the way they should be.
