Guys please read

This is a sticky but I wanted to be sure you guys and gals saw and read it and understand that membership mining will not be tolerated.

Good morning HPA!!

Just wanted to make a quick announcement to the HPA membership as our activity peaks and numbers hit the roof with the hunting seasons approaching; we are likely going to attract a lot of attention from other sites mining for members and businesses attempting to spam their goods, we do our best to keep this off HPA and are quite successful but we also want to help you avoid any inconveniences from this activity as the peak season is here and you may be logging in for the first time in months.

Although we have what I consider some of the very best in the industry at catching spammers at the door and not letting them into our community to begin with (IE, the Nike and medicine peddlers..), it may happen on occasion because after all this is the internet and they get smarter every day, but in true HPA fashion if it does happen they get called out immediately by you guys and are gone within minutes of arrival, a system of cooperation that works great.

The second activity of membership mining from other websites is a little more difficult as many of those requests are from folks already here and therefore it is harder for us to remove them without your help. We do not share, sell or give out any member info on HuntingPA.com and we treat all your information like it is that of a family member; however there are a couple things YOU can do as well to secure your info even more.

1. Go to your ID profile and hide your e-mail so it does not show when someone clicks on your ID and looks at your bio. If someone wants to contact you about getting together for a hunt or buying something you have for sale on HPA, etc… they can request it and you then have total control of who you give it too. Unfortunately it makes an extra step for you, but it does keep you safer and in control. Should you need help with carrying out this change please contact any of the HPA staff and they can help you or even do it for you.

2. The second step is where we require the most cooperation from you to make a difference and that is with requests that come to you via the PM system on HuntingPA.com. Should you receive unwanted and unsolicited offers to join or check out a site or product via your PM system and you do not want it, you can once again contact any on the HPA staff and give us the information so that we can investigate and remove the problem.

That is just a couple tips to help keep the HuntingPA.com community the safest and best place to be during the PA hunting season. Many out there know we are about to have one of the biggest and best hunting season celebrations on the internet so we attract them like a porch light on a dark night. And although the bug zappers get most, it is the cooperation between members and staff here that is the true screen door for it. There is a partenrship here unlike any I have seen anywhere else on the WWW and together we have built this site and community for over 12 years, never deploying the tactics mentioned above, so we do take offense if it happens here to our family.

Thanks all for coming here and making the HPA community your own interent hunting camp. HAVE A GREAT SEASON and we look forward to sharing and celebrating the moments of it with you. God Bless, stay SAFE, and holler if you need help with anything that is what the site and staff is here for.
