Re: Small game camp

I spend more time at my cabin during grouse and woodcock season from mid Oct to late Nov than I do at any other time of the year. I can be there four or more days a week for six weeks. We also get more out of state guests in for grouse and woodcock hunting. That's probably because most of my friends are grouse and woodcock hunters.

Re: Small game camp

I always go for the grouse opener. Also happens to coincide with early ML, which is nice. Sometimes just me and the dog, sometimes with guests. Probably solo this year, so I'll look for the other small gamers at the local in Cross Fork!

Re: Small game camp

I guess you could say it's a tradition. This is our 2nd year at our new camp and we'll be up for opening grouse with a good dog to help. Then we'll be back for opening turkey. Will get some pheasant hunting in as well as some archery deer. Best time of the year I say with all the oportunities. Just have to carry a bunch of different loads for the shotgun.

Re: Small game camp

My favorite time of the year!! Mid-October to Mid-November. Small game and Fall Turkey. I am kind of getting bored of archery deer hunting up where our camp is in 2F, not many deer around. I see way more bear and turkey and grouse in pockets than deer. I also love still hunting with a .22LR or .22Mag

Re: Small game camp

That`s funny you mention that as there weren`t any acorns around here last year and this year-everywhere If I do archery hunt, I`ll probably just do buck only.
