Elk County Camps

Can anyone provide some info of the hunting and fishing in ELk County. Still looking for a camp - might go see one in Spring Twsp. Will be deer hunting and grouse hunting and ice fishing. Did a search and found a thread from 2011 that didn't have much good to say about the deer numbers in the area.

A promise made is a debt unpaid.

Re: Elk County Camps

deer are coming back ive had a place in springcreek twp since 1987 the deer numbers were great back then trailed off but is once again getting better...if i didnt own property in armstrong county id spend alot more time up there and i feel id be prettyt successful. as far as grouse we used to do alot of it up there too its getting harder to find them but they are there. fishing is great the clarion river is awesome and east branch dam and the ridgway resivior offer great ice fishing....good luck with your endevour...i would never discourage anyone from getting a place up there it is great getting away.....just remeber when hunting its not the destination its the journey that will stick with you!!!!!

take a kid hunting and fishing it will keep them out of trouble

Re: Elk County Camps

I am guessing you mean spring creek. Our camp is there. It is a nice area lots of hunting and fishing opportunities.

There is a huntable amount of game but it's not easy you have to put some effort into

I like the area and it's a nice ride from our house to camp.

Re: Elk County Camps

ADK, I've found the deer and turkey hunting in Elk county to be very good...lots of deer and some very nice bucks seen each year. I don't think you could go wrong in Elk county...great people, great hunting, and great fishing! And besides all that, there's just nothing like going to camp!

Dad, I think I got a 10 point!
