Special thanks to fellow HPA'er pocobowhunter

A special thanks to fellow HPA'er pocobowhunter for coming up to my camp to put a metal roof on my cabin. now... i took numerous pictures of the progress and completion, but just figured out my sd card slot in my computer must be broke and my $800.00 iphone which has photos on too says "wi-fi not currently available" REALLY!!! so pocobohunter if you want and dont mind go ahead and add yours so the guys can see that spiffy roof. pocobowhunter did most of the installation and is a magnificent carpenter/roofer and i like to think of myself as an excellent "groundman" we had it done in no time and looks very good. again, sorry no pics but maybe with a little help he can add some for me. they are very easy to get and with the help of someone that has a clue, they are very easy to install. he would be highly recommended.

nice roof! im on the verge of putting a new metal roof on my camp as well. im just curious and not "knocking" any ones work but...ive been told by many not to cover up the old shingles...strip them off and start at the sub roof. what lead you guys to firring it out and laying the metal on top of the old shingels? again im not picking apart your work...it looks SWEET!

Re: Special thanks to fellow HPA'er pocobowhunter

In most cases when you want to install a metal roof over plywood sheeting, I would recommend tearing off the shingles because they will be noticeable after the job is complete as they tend to bubble the metal in some places. However, in this case, the roof was a little spongy in some spots because a previous owner of the cabin spaced his rafters too far apart. So I recommended the 2 x 4 perlins to stiffen up the roof system, which they did. Most of the old shingles were still all in place and weren't at all warped or ripped, so it was no problem to simply lay the 2 x 4's right over top. But thanks for asking

hey huntfish. no thats fine. i ripped off the "tabs". i really didnt get where it was nailed. it sounds good and all to rip off, and they were the intensions, but you just get to the point when your up there sweating and everything else to just go right over em. like i said i did eliminate "most" they are actual 2x4 furrings screwd down with 4" deck screws on each rafter.he would of ripped shingles off he just said it was my call. we'll need pics of your place too then. you def wont go wrong with one i think. thanx for looking
