Well, today we officially took ownership of the Little Bucktail Club in Driftwood PA. It has been a hunting camp since 1970. Now it will be more of a family vacation spot than a camp, since it is family owned, and for the first time a non-hunting member is joining in the membership.

The guys that wanted out were bought out at fair market value. I must say that they were very fair during the transition and left the camp in excellent condition after they moved their stuff out. That carries a lot of weight in my book. Regardless of their differences with my dad, I would welcome them in for a drink or a chat if they were to stop by.

So this weekend my sister and her family will be joining us from Canada as part owners, and the closest partners at that. A fresh coat of paint inside, a thorough clearance of 42 years of accumulated "stuff", and maybe a tear or two because it is not what it once was "back in the day".

I will hang on to what it is. My dad is 71 and in great shape, but I know it will not always be that way.

Hopefully this bow season will be a good one. We have only doubled in Cameron County twice, once during rifle and once during archery. Maybe this change is a sign!

If anyone is around, stop on by. I will be in from Tuesday through Saturday......

Re: Bittersweet

Things change, people, and time, move on. But it sounds like the place has passed into the hands of folks who will care for it, take care of it and build lasting memories from it. What could be better?

Good night Chesty, wherever you are......
