Anyone have a square D breaker box?

Do they make tandem breakers that will fit in a Square D box? I even got the square D tandem breakers and they dont fit. The groove in the breaker isn't deep enough to fit on the bus bar. Is there more than one kind of tandem breaker for square D boxes?

Square D has an economy system called " Homeline", and their standard system which is the industry standard. You either have homeline breakers and a standard box or a homeline box and standard breakers, but they don't mix!

Does your panel require CTL breakers? If so that might be the problem. Certain manufactures made CTL ( Circuit Total Limiting)panels that prevented you from adding too many circuits. Also Square D came out with a home line awhile back that is sold in Home Depot and it uses different breakers then the QO panels. Its been a long time since I touched a panel so I could be wrong. Good luck.

Maybe that is where my problem lies, but nobody seems to be able to locate tandem breakers that fit my box.

The closest place you can get the square D that you need is Pittsburgh. Graybar. (412) 323-5200

Look on the panel cover door for a label that says what type breakers your panel takes. Most newer ones take QO style breakers.

There's a place in McKeesport called Sunray electric that I thought I might find it.
