Oil thieves around Highland ???

Not sure ,but we lost 150 gallon of fuel oil at camp. Something or someone snapped the fitting of the bottom of the tank. I thought that maybe a bear stepped on it until the owner of the camp across the road said his lock on the gate was sawed almost in two. Also the line was laying on and old ice cream bucket that we kept around to water the dogs. It took some weight to snap that adapter off even with the bottom of the tank. I don't understand why they wouldn't shut the valve off, cut the copper line and bend it into a bucket. Some oil on the ground but it doesn't seem enough for what should have been in the tank.
At $3.60 a gallon, it sure ticks me off.
Just thought I would inform you all.

Over the past several months it seems like the Highland area camps have been hit rather hard. To bad that people have to put up with stuff like this.

As a camp owner I understand the frustration with thiefs. Let's stay within the rules though.
Thanks TATER

Re: Oil thieves around Highland ???

Jug1,
Unfortunately there is a lot of this kind of theft going on right now. We have never had a break in or a problem of any kind where my log cabin happens to be located. However this coming year we are going to invest in a security system that can be monitered from my lap top, it might be a real good idea for you to invest in something similar. Check out the camp security thread.
