Sad day for camps...

Well I am sad to report that Saturday is now the first day of rifle. This would be great if you could hunt on Sunday but you cannot and I doubt you ever will in Pa. I believe guys will come up late Friday and hunt Sat and then head home Sunday morning... no more hanging out and just celebrating camaraderie. After time they we say it's not worth heading up to camp and just abandon camp. Very sad...

Did I miss the part in the new season dates where it's only open 11/30?

You didn't, but do you know how many camps go dark on Sunday after bear season because they can't hunt Sunday? Guess what, bear season isn't only one day either.

Yup, with no Sunday hunting camps will be closed by noon Sunday. Heck even with Sunday I think there will be a huge exodus by Sunday evening .

Nothing says your camps can't decide to have your opener on Monday as usual.

This is true, but it wont be as much fun as the real opener when the Orange Army is out and gets tired by 9AM and starts to head back to camp and pushes all the deer to me .

The Saturday opener just gives me an extra day of archery. Now the Old Monday opener can be used in early November for a cruising buck.

Other than you studs that hunt 100 days a year, average joe probably only hunts a couple, whether in a camp or if he hunts locally. I too witness the exodus from camps after Tuesday at lunch time, but also notice most locals hunt Monday and then not again until Saturday. I've never seen anything draw such a great divide between sportsmen in this state as this Saturday opener has done. I thought the damage inflicted by the AR change was bad, but this puts that to shame.
