Shortest Ever Trip to Camp Today.

Left this morning on my way to Potter. Only road closing listed by Penn Dot that would affect me was Rt 54 just north of I 80 but I figured I'd deal with that when I got there.

Long story short; six hours later, after a dozen detours and turn-arounds, I finally gave up and came home.

Some of the road closures I hit that weren't listed by Penn Dot when I left this morning: Rt.662 at Rt. 222, a section of Rt. 61 just north of Leesport, Main St. in Cressona, Rt. 183, Rt. 54 north of Mt. Carmel, Rt. 42 near Catawissa, Rt. 487 near Catawissa. and many, many more secondary roads.

Never made it more than ninety minutes from home.

Eh...wot?

Main thing your back home safely. I'm reading major flooding up in Sullivan County around my camp. Cant imagine how bad 11/15 is north of Selingsgrove, across from Sunbury etc. which is part of my treck North..

Re: Shortest Ever Trip to Camp Today.

Sadly, it wasn't your "shortest trip to camp", because you never even made it there. That would be upsetting - ready and excited about heading to camp, and having to turn back.

Re: Shortest Ever Trip to Camp Today.

The Penndot site only shows State roads that are closed. Anysort of township or secondary road closing do not get posted there. I have been telling everyone I know that if 5 state roads are closed in a county...Anticipate 50 secondaries being closed for sure.

Could have been worse, it could have really been your shortest trip to camp. You could have went up, made it, only to find a tree had fallen on it or the stream/river up the road flooded your camp!

Don't Tread On Me is what it says and I'll take that to my grave.

Re: Shortest Ever Trip to Camp Today.

For those tempted to head for Potter or Tioga from here in the south central, Rt. 11 is still closed, where it splits from 15 near Sunbury. They just opened the bridges between Sunbury and Norry, earlier today.

If you are used to going that way to get to I-180, gonna hafta head farther north on 15 and hop over elsewheres.

By my reckoning, this is at least the third time this year that Rt. 11 has been closed there, since the high water in March.
