Any Huntingdon county camps looking for members?

I am a Huntingdon county native, transplanted to York county for the last 20 years. Originally from northern Huntingdon county. I am hoping to find an active camp in that area to join along with my 14 year old son. We would like to join a camp with some active young fellows his age so he can also socialize and get that real camp experience. Hoping to find a camp with a good crowd for deer and bear season, and perhaps some use through the summer for trips to Raystown. Glad to pay annual membership dues as well as participate in work details, etc. I know the area well, plan to hunt mostly public land but I do have access to some private land in the area, a parcel of my family farm, as well as access courtesy of some landowner friends in the area, having lived there for half of my life. This is mostly because I would like him to experience a real hunting camp environment like I had in my early years. Sadly, they are becoming much harder to find. I know the northern end of the county the best but I have also hunted parts of Jack's mountain in southern Huntingdon county as a guest in a camp that sadly has faded away.

Unfortunately, I do not belong to a camp or know of any camps that are looking for members, but I do know that there are several state forest lease camps for sale in the Rothrock State Forest in Northern Huntingdon County. One is for sale on Diamond Valley Road near Petersburg, the other is located north of Huntingdon on Martin Gap Road. These might be an option if you guys are looking for your own place. However, I know that you said you are looking more for the camp experience and that would entail an already existing camp with members. Good luck in your search for a camp. As you said, it does seem that hunting camps are declining as the years go by. Huntingdon County is a great area and offers many excellent outdoor opportunities.

You may want to move it to Sportsmen Connection & Hunt Swap Forum May be kind of late for this season.
