Thieves in Clearfield County

Last weekend there were several camps that had copper pipe stolen. The thieves cut the copper line from the propane tank to where it entered camp. We were at our camp until 11:00 pm Friday night and went back out the next afternoon and saw what had happened. Let me know if you have heard anything please.

Copper pipe right now is near the top of the thieves lists for profit.

Re: Thieves in Clearfield County

where did this occur?

check with the local scrap yards they should keep records of who bring in what.
definately file a police report. Im sure the state police are already well aware that this is happening in greater frequency and these further events if reported will help bolster any possible cases

Re: Thieves in Clearfield County

It happened on the Knobs Road and Ames Road from the camp owners that I have talked to so far. We have talked to the State Police and they said they would check the scrap yard info.

Hopefully the SCUM that make some Honest folks heating/propane systems non functional have the same non functionalality issues with their REPRODUCTIVE AND PERSONAL WASTE DISPOSAL SYSTEMS upon capture!!!

Re: Thieves in Clearfield County

scrapper thiefs are easy to catch if the SP have the manpower and resources to handle it.

Most scrappers have drug habits which they will say force them to do whatever they can to come up with cash.
If the local scrapyard all of a sudden has someone come in with a load of bendable copper lines and there all snip cut then he probably has the culprit. Now if the scapryard takes the ID of the person scraping and makes a copy of it for records then theres a paper trail. Now if all the local scrapyards are looking for a certain metal to come in at a certain size and it does a few days later then theres evidence.

Police and Da shouldnt have any problem making a case for theft and criminal mischief.

No doubt... actually, it's been near the top for awhile now.
