“4-Corner Pillar”

So along the power line outside of Brookston (south of Sheffield) there is a stone pillar where the corners of McKean, Elk, Forest, and Warren. It has each counties name carved into one side of it and a date on top. Can’t recall the date off hand but it is old lol. Anyone know the history or have any info on this? Thanks

mad, if that's the case you can put one foot in one county and the other in another and put one hand down in another and the other hand in yet another and say you were in four counties at the same time.

Sounds cool. I've walked the powerline many times from coon run to brookston. I've never went past the forest service road above brookston though. Coon run is elk county and the next valley is is martin which is mckean. The following valley is crane which is mckean. I have walked two valleys over from there to a forest service road. From what I gather off Google Earth that takes you into brookston which I believe is warren county. It has to be close to forest though.

Photos. This is located on a power line as you can see the tower on the one photo. If you use a map search for Brookstone (in Forest county)

https://www.mapquest.com/search/resu...d,%20PA&page=0

If this is not zoomed in do so at the 4 corner area and switch to satellite and you will see the power line in that view. And some roads that are in the area. These are not my photos but some that I was given when I ask locals about this. Have a request in to the local history group for any more info and will pass any more on when I get it.

Thanks guys. I look forward to learning any history. It is about a 30 minute hike from our camp. I know I have pictures somewhere but wilyspike’s post pretty much covers it.
