At camp in Cherry Grove weekend.

Spent the weekend at camp in Cherry Grove area, Warren County. Friday I took a walk in the ANF along Arnot Run. I went several miles and was encouraged that I saw three different groups of deer and there was quite a bit of deer sign. Seems to me the deer numbers are good, well, better than in years past right after hunting season finished. And while I did see coyote sign, tracks of three, and another set of tracks that looked like four yotes it didn't seem like any more or less coyote sign than in past years. What I didn't see was turkey tracks. None. That is not the same as past years.
And I'm not surprised at that because this past summer and fall I saw less turkeys by far then in years past. I know not why.
Sat. I walked out on Forest rd. 415 to the end then made a big circle. Saw pretty much the same thing. Good deer sign, some yote tracks and scat but not a single turkey track. Starting to look like spring gobbler will not be spent at camp. We'll see.
One other camp in my area was visited since the last snow. That's normal for Jan. I'm often the only one kicking around up there this time of year.
Temps were mild and it was great to be outside.
