addin on

Seems like when you own a camp you can't turn down free materials . One friend gave me a 12X8 pool deck (composite boards with the frame) another friend gave me some metal roofing . So all my brother and I had to do was buy some posts and a few boards to make the porch the height we wanted and before you knew it we had this . Well maybe not before you knew it because we had the materials for over a year

The bonus was I decided to grab the steps from the pool decking and lucked out on the height. Well lets just say it close enough for camp

So brother and I are headed tomorrow for camp to start on the roof. You can never have enough covered porch space at camp especially with our smallish camp. So after this is done we will have one porch that is 24X11 and this one 12X8, our camp is only 24X16 with a 16X10 loft. We are getting close to have the same square footage in porch space as inside living lol. But being outside is what its all about.

Will take some pics after this weekend to show our progress.

You were fortunate to get all the free materials.

Free is good. You could always enclose that later if you ever need too

Re: addin on

Nice! We are in the process of adding on a screen porch/deck combo. Should finish on our next trip. Porch is 17x11 and deck is 12x11. Can't wait to sit out there and relax! Neighbors told us a local bear was there one evening checking out the quality of our work!

Re: addin on

I know what you mean, can't turn down free materials either. At work we get 2X4's in boxes from the stuff we get from vendors and I grab them. I have plans for them at my camp also in the future.

Re: addin on

looks nice. outside space at camp is great. my camp is kind of small too and it always bummed me to sit inside on summer days when it was raining so i built a 20x30 pavillion over the last few years and love it. i spend most of my time out there in the summer. its cooler than inside and stays dry even in the heaviest rain.

Re: addin on

free is good

tater we plan on adding out the back withing two years

ronm we give a shot of the overall but front porch is still a mess with what else? yep free materials lol

penmarman we may screen this porch in to keep the bugs away during the day but that isn't in the plans right now

palimbhanger around the camp looks a mess right now with all the free materials we have. after this project we plan on making a bin to hold all the materials so it don't look so bad and get rid of some of the tarps we have covering everything

pumpgun 20x30 good size....brother and I talked about buying one of those carports for our pavilion for outside use but going to use our materials up first. eventually we want the carport to have our fire under...nothing worse than getting rained out in the middle of a good evening around the fire
