New years eve at camp

My wife and I went to camp Sunday morning. Just to check things, relax and start the new year where we are happiest. It was 5 degrees inside the cabin and I got the wood stove started quick. Took 2 hours to get it up to 50 degrees inside. Took a good walk, but it was darn cold. Saw plenty of deer tracks and to many coyote tracks. Had a few beers. Made a good supper and read a while. Asleep long before midnight. It never got over 68 inside all night. It was -2 degrees outside when I woke up. Times like this I'm glad I don't have water inside the camp. The frost free spigot outside never freezes up and I never heard of an out house freezing. Sometimes, in fact most times, I think simple is best.

Sounds like a good time, that's one of the things I miss about PA. The camp.

I know what you mean. I used to have to spend a lot of time out of state and I missed going to camp most of all.

Takes along time to get the cold out of the walls and floors when it has been with out heat for a while. I went to our camp the day before my brother was going to be up to start the gas heater. It was a COLD time on the floor trying to light it. Takes about 5 minutes to get the gas to it but felt like forever!!! Set it @ 50 just to take the chill off the place so when they got there he could start the wood stove that will keep it warm.
