Hazel Hurst area

Still looking for a camp. Couple around Hazel Hurst look promising. Anyone else have a camp or hunt around there and if so how do you like the area?

A promise made is a debt unpaid.

Re: Hazel Hurst area

Our camp is right up the road in Clermont. Marvin is a nice stream to fish and lots of others with both stocked and natives. I'm sure you could find great fishing every single day for a month without hitting the same spot twice. I hear the turkey hunting has always been excellent around the Hazel Hurst/Marvindale area too. Plenty of deer. I have a picture of a monster buck shot just outside of Hazel Hurst from a year or two ago. Dad has owned the camp since 1966. I don't know the area like he does, but I love every minute I spend up there. If you are into history of the local area like I am, check out smethporthistory.org. Good luck in your camp search.

I have not hunted there but have fished Marvin Creek... You will enjoy that area.. Some of our guys hunt around there for Hare.. and see plenty of game during their hunts.

Re: Hazel Hurst area

Marvin is excellent, as is Kinzua Creek. I haven't hunted there yet, but it has what looks to be some nice habitat, especially around Marvin Creek.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Re: Hazel Hurst area

Like I said in my post to WV. The areas around there are awesome...now there arent as many deer as the so called "Good Ole Days" but there are some true monsters out there.Plenty of options to hunt Timber company lands open to the public, timber lands that ae leased that you could join, state forests, gamelands. I ve hunted and fished the areas up near there since age 6. You gotta put some time in to find good areas but thats the fun of it. Good luck in your search. Once you get a camp PM me for some specific areas to get you started...

Re: Hazel Hurst area

There are areas with loads of grouse. It's rare for me to go in the woods where I hunt without at least a couple of flushes.

Re: Hazel Hurst area

There might be one or two if you kick the right brush pile.. Heck you kick the wrong brush pile and a bear will run out..
