Security Gate

I am trying to find a security gate to put on the road leading back into my property but I cant find one. Does anyone know where I can find one? My buddy has one that is really neat where the lock is kind of enclosed so it cant be shot off. He got it from a buddy years ago but is not sure where he got it.

Re: Security Gate

We have the same kind at our camp. The lock is enclosed in a metal tubing so in order to take the lock off, the person has to reach up inside the tubing. Ours was made by a guy but i'm not sure where he got the blueprints from. Other than the sophisticated locking enclosure, the gate is pretty much just your standard 3 point gate.......

Re: Security Gate

So many of them are are on DCNR haul roads, you'd think someone makes them for them?

Re: Security Gate

You'd be best to have someone fabricate one out of heavy steel. The farm gates you get at TS can be pushed over and destroyed very easily.

Re: Security Gate

My nephew makes them all the time. He regularly sells them to gas companies, etc. I can get you a price if you can pick it up in the Smethport area.

Re: Security Gate

Fairly simple for a person that can use both a cutting and welding torch to build on site. You need to anchor the posts with concrete so the determined "VISITOR" can not push their way thru!!

Re: Security Gate

.Just made one this past weekend. We set the posts in concrete 3 weeks ago, and this weekend took the rest of the pipe up with a welding machine. Took 3 of us about 3 hours to complete including painting it. Came out great, if you want send me your cell # and I will send you a pick.

Camp life,it don't get much better!

Re: Security Gate

Forty-five years ago my dad bought a cabin along the Allegheny River north of Pittsburgh. There was never a problem, no locked gates needed. Today, with the cabin sold off long ago there is a huge gate, but even with that "security" people use ski-doos to get in and trash the camps. It's a shame that some Americans have fallen so far and low.
