Cool idea for a camp.

Never thought about using a shipping container as a hunting camp but it sort of makes sense. With the way they're built, you have much more security and basically can close them up when you leave. Also don't have to pay property tax or deal with building codes.

Here's a place that makes hunting camps out of shipping containers to give you some ideas of what you can do with one.

Someone posted the prices for these.

The prices were $12,750 for the Weekender, $14,750 for the Murphy's Camp, and $23,000 for the Cadillac Camp.

Seems you'd be better off getting the containers and doing the inside yourself but it's still a good reference.

Re: Cool idea for a camp.

For those who worry about break-ins, these might fill the bill.

"The ones I've seen keep the original double doors at one end, but have a false front with windows and a normal door just inside..The idea is that when you arrive in camp you open the main steel double doors and leave them open and you need have a normal door and window...On leaving, you close the main steel doors and the cabin is then secure"

Re: Cool idea for a camp.

Four years ago a company out of GA was at the sportsman's show with these.

Windows and normal doors had 1/4" steel covers over them on hidden hinges. Full kitchen, electrical outlets and I think it slept five - double bunks in the back and the table converted. The very rear utilized the double doors as a garage area or muck room.

The price was around 40k then. but that included satellite TV and a flat screen tv and the full top shelf interior finish w/ running water and shower / toilet. Less delivery.

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.

Re: Cool idea for a camp.

I have thought about a small shipping container for a shed at the cabin pretty secure you could easily fit a four wheeler or two and other things needed at a camp in there

WRONG!!!!! As soon as you intend to occupy this structure. You have to comply with all state and local laws. This means inspection and taxes.
