Heading to camp this weekend in warren co.

I've been real real busy unfortunately, so I haven't made it to camp yet this year. It's been to long matter of fact, deer rifle season. Going to head up with some friends and family. We're in cherry grove which is right outside of Sheffield and I was wondering how the bugs are this year, they were absolutely horrific last year at this time. We were thinking about heading to kinzua which is always fun.

Re: Heading to camp this weekend in warren co.

I was just down last weekend and the bugs were the worst that I had ever seen. The gnats were horrendous during the day. Either had to put up with them in the shade or sit in the sun and bake. Skeeters were bad at night as well. Deet didn't even seem to stop them, or they found the handful of places I didn't cover real well on my legs.

Remember, shoot straight and shoot often.

My place is right in Sheffield at the bottom Austin Hill.

Leaving tomorrow afternoon for the weekend .

I just got back from camp and the gnats are indeed very bad. They have been for about three weeks now. I don't normally use bug spray at all, but I have been lately and am still getting bit. They are leaving little red welts all over you and they disappear the very next day. About drove me half nuts this morning.

Every trout stream I've been fishing is just loaded with fish. We have been hammering them. Quit when I caught my 20th last night after about 1 1/2 hours of fishing. Fished about two hours this morning and stopped at 27.

Been seeing quite a few deer and some fawns. Saw two bears in the last week, one of them right in the yard of the camp walking up our sidewalk.

Heading up tomorrow, been up every weekend since March and the bugs are just starting to show up.

Re: Heading to camp this weekend in warren co.

I was at my place in Heart's Content last weekend and the bugs were pretty bad. I kept a fire going outside as I was clearing and burning some brush from piece of property I purchased next to mine and the smoke really seemed to help. I have an "old" ball cap I keep up there that is saturated in bug spray, and it keeps them out of my face and ears. I think its time to buy a thermacell.

Re: Heading to camp this weekend in warren co.

Bugs are bad near camp, but when I was back in the woods not so bad. Was out from 8-5 today, mowing plots, spreading lime and cutting up down trees. Not bad to i returned to camp.

Yeah, it was horrible up there and it gets pretty annoying to say the least. It was a great time regardless. At night when we had a fire it wasn't bad.
