Trip report from Sproul SF

A little late, but...
A group of us arrived at camp at noon, May 1 and stayed thru noon, May 6th. I'll start with the positives. The weather was fantastic. Mid 70s during the day, mid 40s in the mornings, no humidity, and no gnats or flies. We had some brush cutting to do around camp and we borrowed a Stihl FS130 brushcutter, what a machine ! We ripped thru briar bushes and small saplings all day long. I highly recommend one, decent price for the power. Fishing activity on Kettle Creek, Pine Creek, YMC were all above average. Some of us bait fish, others strictly fly fish. We all caught fish.
Now for the downer: we DID NOT SEE any big game species the entire time at camp. We did not see or hear any turkeys, no deer sightings, and no bear sightings. Nothing while in the woods, nothing while driving around. As far as game sightings, this was by far the slowest trip we have had in the 25 years of owning our camp. Good thing we had plenty of spring chores to keep us busy.
Grouse activity seemed to be abundant.

Great report, Beezer. I noticed that too....the last time I was at camp the wildlife sightings seemed minimal. I'm glad to hear the fishing was good!

I was out off of 144 stocking trout before season.... Saw 3 elk, 2 bear, 2 flocks of gobblers..... But zero deer. They are scarce, that's for sure.

Re: Trip report from Sproul SF

That is the reason why I sold my 100 ac property that I had in Clinton back in 1999 and bought a property in Susquehanna. We used to fish the same creeks and cant take anything away from that. they were were awesome.

My property was at the top of Summerson Mt. road that boarded the Sproul and the bottom of the property was by the dirt road where the right & left creeks met at Young Womans creek
