Flies and ladybugs ??

Anyone have any suggestions on how to keep the house free of Flies and lady bugs. Somehow they seem to find their way into the cabin over the winter, and all come out to greet me when we open the cabin in the spring. I've sealed up all the possible entrances that i can find, but they keep on coming in. Drives the wife batty!

I don't know because the army of stinkbugs that live here keep flies and ladybugs away.

Re: Flies and ladybugs ??

I don't have a lady bug problem at camp but the flies are dead every where when we open up or are not there for a longer than normal period. Our camp is all sealed up and join food is left out so the problem is not that bad. I agree you can try a bug bomb see if that keeps them out. Ha in the old camp bugs were the easy problem mice seemed to take over sometimes. Good luck don't want a unhappy misses

I use this and we don't have ANY bug problems at the cabin. Hit exterior around all windows and doors, and along bottom edge of any siding. Lasts all season and no odor like some residuals have.
bug stuff

Re: Flies and ladybugs ??

My neighbor in Potter County pays $300 to have his whole place sprayed for the lady bugs, etc. I use a $20 plastic can of Ortho Home Defense and spray around every door and window (inside and out) with a tight stream so the spray doesn't go everywhere. It works great - but you have to do it in early October before they start to come in with the cold weather. The ones that do crawl in under and around door jams and window frames are dead within eight inches of the opening - and they are then easy to suck up with a sweeper. It's real cheap and it works as good as a $300 treatment!

By the way, I didn't do this one year, and had to set of some bug bombs. I found that when lady bugs die, they grab onto whatever that are on, and you have to scrape or pick them off of anything fuzzy like a wool blanket!

It wouldn't feel like spring at camp if I wasn't vacuuming up 12,000 dead lady bugs and flies in camp...

Don't forget to spray the exhaust fan openings in the bathroom and kitchen as well as the fresh air intakes for your heating systems and fireplace flues

I'm with pigsty as well, we don't get nearly as many lady bugs as we use to but still get them and the flies.
